In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells the disciples to go back to Jerusalem. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem.” The word translated as power is also the root of our word for dynamite. Jesus is promising an explosive power that will enable us to witness to the nations and live a powerful Christian life. That same powerful Holy Spirit is received in baptism and confirmation. As baptized and confirmed Catholics, we already have all we need to live life through the power of the Holy Spirit. If we remove the obstacles of our own understanding and lack of preparation and move with the Holy Spirit into the mission he has given us, we will change the world.
