The birth of the church is described in the account of Pentecost from the book of Acts, “And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
This is the same Holy Spirit presence of God that was so thick it barred entrance to the Tent of Meeting in the desert and overwhelmed Solomon’s priests at the inauguration of the First Temple. This very same spirit gave the Prophets their message and empowered great miracles. This same spirit of power breathes through the very fabric of our lives.
