Prayer matters. It is conversation with our Beloved. Who is our Beloved? He is the One who made us and knows us better than we know ourselves. Staying connected to the Source of Life and Love makes sense.
- First thing in the morning, take 5 minutes to read the Mass readings for the day and meditate briefly on what you read. What main point can you apply to your life or to a situation today? The Word of God is living and active and is always new and fresh.
- Write in a prayer journal anything that struck you from the readings and anything else you feel the Holy Spirit impressing upon you.
- You can also write any prayer intentions or answers to prayer. Refer back often to keep track of how faithful God is.
- Conclude with the rosary and pay attention to each mystery as you pray it.
- Keep in mind that even when we find prayer difficult and dry, we reap great benefits of peace and holiness. Just show up! The Lord will do the rest.
If you do this consistently, you will find yourself less anxious and more at peace with yourself and the world, even in seemingly negative circumstances.
