When Jesus says in the Beatitudes, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God,” He is blessing those of us who are coherent and consistent and committed in our faith from the inside out. The commitment we have in our hearts is readily observable in our behavior, no duplicity, no hypocrisy.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says there are those who have attuned their intellects and wills to the demands of God’s holiness and are pure in heart, body and faith. No compromises, no straddling the fence, no being someone in church and someone entirely different in the world. Purity of heart is a precondition for the vision of God. Purity of heart calls us to full integration of God’s Kingdom in our whole lives.
Are you sold out for the Lord?
