The letter to the Hebrews describes the scriptures as a double-edged sword.

This weapon is so sharp, it can cut us to the bone, revealing our hypocrisy, our justifications, our self-recited limitations, and our hidden motives. They are like a riverbed clogged with boulders.

Our lives, then, become stale and boring without the fresh, clean rushing waters of God’s Spirit. And yet, these waters can rush in through the word of God.

In the same way, it may be painful at times to read the scriptures God gave us. But, the life they bring is crucial.

First Corinthians 4:20 says, “The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”

Today, allow the word of God to clear away the obstacles that block you from a total life of holiness.
